Trust in God only

Trust in God Only

Jeremiah 17:5-8

This is what the Lord says:

“Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh
and whose heart turns away from the Lord. That person will be like a bush in the wastelands; they will not see prosperity when it comes. They will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives.

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

Psalm 62

Trust Only in God

I wait patiently for God to save me; I depend on him alone. He alone protects and saves me; he is my defender, and I shall never be defeated.

How much longer will all of you attack someone who is no stronger than a broken-down fence? You only want to bring him down from his place of honor; you take pleasure in lies. You speak words of blessing, but in your heart, you curse him.

I depend on God alone; I put my hope in him. He alone protects and saves me; he is my defender, and I shall never be defeated. My salvation and honor depend on God; he is my strong protector; he is my shelter.

Trust in God always, my people. Tell him all your troubles, for he is our refuge.

Human beings are all like a puff of breath; great and small alike are worthless. Put them on the scales, and they weigh nothing; they are lighter than a mere breath.

Don't put your trust in violence; don't hope to gain anything by robbery; even if your riches increase, don't depend on them.

More than once I have heard God say that power belongs to him and that his love is constant. You yourself, O Lord, reward everyone according to their deeds.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the Lord in everything you do, and he will show you the right way.

Isaiah 41:10

Do not be afraid—I am with you! I am your God—let nothing terrify you! I will make you strong and help you; I will protect you and save you.

Psalm 9:9-10

The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a place of safety in times of trouble. Those who know you, Lord, will trust you; you do not abandon anyone who comes to you.

John 20:29

Jesus said to him, “Thomas because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are they who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Prayer

SIGN OF THE CROSS

† In the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit † Amen.

My God, YOU and YOU alone can bring peace to my soul. When I am distracted by difficulties, help me to turn to YOU in perfect trust placing all my cares on YOU. Help me to never turn away from YOU in my despair but to know with certainty that YOU are always there, and that YOU are the ONE to whom I must turn. I trust in YOU, my God, I trust YOU. Jesus, I trust in You. Amen.

May the divine assistance remain always with us, and may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
